Abstract

Old age is a natural process that cannot be avoided, this process takes place continuously which in turn will cause changes in body tissues and ultimately affect the function and ability of the body as a whole. The Social Service of Pandeglang Regency is a Regional Apparatus Organization that has the main task and function, one of which is to provide guidance to the elderly (elderly). The problems studied were the lack of optimal improvement in the social welfare of the elderly by the Social Service of Pandeglang Regency, the lack of infrastructure and facilities for handling the elderly, the lack of fulfillment of the rights of the elderly, the lack of elderly caretakers at the Nini Aki Berkah Pandeglang Social Institution. This research was conducted to find out how the role of the Pandeglang Regency Social Service in dealing with the elderly. To assist in solving research problems that arise, a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis techniques is used. The target of this research itself is at the Nini Aki Berkah Social Institution in Pandeglang, using interview techniques. This study shows that the empowerment of the elderly carried out by the Social Service of Pandeglang Regency is still not optimal, this is caused by the lack of budget and infrastructure and facilities at the Nini Aki Berkah Social home, Pandeglang Regency. Many of the existing infrastructure and facilities at the Nini Aki Berkah Social Home in Pandeglang Regency are not suitable for use, so that many elderly people in the orphanage feel uncomfortable. The number of caretakers at the Nini Aki Berkah Pandeglang Social Institution is still lacking, this is due to the lack of budget for the wages of the orphanage guards.
